What is a weton?
A weton combines the 7-day week with the 5-day Javanese market week (pasaran: Legi, Pahing, Pon, Wage, Kliwon). The same pair comes round every 35 days, a period called selapan.
Neptu values
| Day | Neptu | Pasaran | Neptu |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday | 5 | Legi | 5 |
| Monday | 4 | Pahing | 9 |
| Tuesday | 3 | Pon | 7 |
| Wednesday | 7 | Wage | 4 |
| Thursday | 8 | Kliwon | 8 |
| Friday | 6 | ||
| Saturday | 9 |
Total neptu = day neptu + pasaran neptu. Example: Friday Legi (Jumat Legi) = 6 + 5 = 11.
Frequently asked questions
When does my weton come round again?
Every 35 days. The calculator shows the next date with the same weton.
What if I was born in the evening?
In Javanese tradition the day changes at sunset, so some people born after maghrib use the next day's weton.
