Frequently asked questions
Why are the Indonesian thresholds different from WHO?
WHO uses 25 for overweight and 30 for obesity. The Indonesian Ministry of Health uses lower cut-offs because Asian populations tend to face metabolic risk at lower BMI.
Is BMI accurate for athletes?
Less so, because muscle weighs more than fat. Also measure your waist: above 90 cm (men) or 80 cm (women) indicates risk.
